Sometimes it's silent, precisely where it should be screaming. Sexual abuse and transgressive behavior leave deep scars on the lives of victims. Too often, these experiences remain hidden—out of shame, fear, or ignorance.
With the photo exhibition Silent Scream, we want to powerfully break that silence. The Municipality of Nijmegen, in collaboration with Cultuur op de Campus, believes it's important not to look away, but to create space for stories that need to be heard. We invite people to pause, engage in conversation, and offer support to those who need it.
We're not just about identifying issues, but about contributing to actual change. Not just once, not just today, but time and again. By allowing this exhibition to travel throughout the region, we're making visible what too often remains invisible. We're saying it loud and clear: this belongs to all of us. It's our shared responsibility to listen, support, and maintain boundaries.
